I recommend you edit that post and remove the email config section (and change your email password)....

ps.
Using your config.xml I was able to locate the problem. I am working on a fix.

Can you
1) close the application
2) open the config.xml
3) replace yoru current <config>
with

4) save and close the config
5) start the application

Do you still get the "the config is different" message ?

In that case I don't get it
This config that was created by the app. (on my test system) using the output of your import.
I don't understand why it didn't create this config on your system.

I've uploaded a new build (1.0.4.5).
I've added some logging code to the "import" functionality.

Can you :
1) Close the app and download version 1.0.4.5
2) Replace your current config with the one you posted
3) Edit your config.
Replace

With:

4) Start the application

You should now get the message that your configuration is not up to date.
Answer yes to the question if you want to import the configuration.

5) Close the application
6) Open the log.

In the log look for: "ImportConfig"

7) Can you post the output of that part.

It should look like this:

That looks good. That should result in a correct config.
Is your config.xml updated after closing the application?
Are the DRU's in the correct order now?

They show the same as the screenshot. It is not the order I input them originally. But that does not matter. Thanks again. Should I disable the logger?

So if I understand you correctly, you import the config and according to the log the first DRU to be imported (DRU1) is "C:\fs\F\DE\shares\DVD", however when you look at the treeview (after successfully importing the log), the location of DRU1 is set to "C:\fs\1C\DE\shares\BluRay"?

It shows

C:\fs\F\DE\shares\DVD

1st in the tree view.

When I originally created the raid it was input in this order

1C
15
18
D
F
T
X

With Bluray and DVD on each one

So the order of the DRU's in the treeview is equal to the order of the DRU's of the log.
And you still get the "The current configuration deviates from the configuration stored in the metadata file." message when you start the application?

Not anymore. When I start the application no errors are shown.

I was speaking of when I created the raid. See the screenshot of the original config.

When I imported the config with the new version, it shows the config in the order listed now. It does not generate any errors now.

I spoke too soon, my WHS server rebooted automatically after a security update and now the error comes back. I did an import f:\ command and here is the output

Hmm, in Brahim's Web Interface i could change the splitSize of the .flxr files (Runtime Properties -> General Properties -> splitSize). I changed the size to 25GB and while working with the Web-Interface all went fine. Now, rsynching with your client the new .flxr files are all about 1GB (default value i guess).

1. how can i change the splitSize in your client? Is it possible?

2. do i have now a problem, because my .flxr files have now different sizes?

cheers

Quick tip: large split sizes are not recommended.
You will get better update performance with a smaller split size.
This is because when a split needs to be re-validated, it is done as a whole.

Ah ok, i thought a bigger splitSize results into fewer .flxr files. Isn't there a maximum file count per folder in NTFS?

What about my second question (mixing splitSize)? Should i create my .flxr files from scratch or is this mixing (25 GB and 1GB files) ok?

The max is too large for you to worry about it.
FlexRAID supports splits of various sizes; hence, why you can change the split size on demand.
If you ever experience performance issues and need to normalize you split, then you will need to create the RAID.

The default.
You can go lower if you have a lot of small files, but don't go too small.
