Just worked out how to perform a silent upgrade.. this will be in 1.0.5 (Still testing)
Brahim wrote:

It does nothing (The service that is), but it will have tried (Client side) unless there was a user ACL problem (It will be in the client log)

Yay.

Did you (Can you) then switch back to the Status page (After performing an open of saved file) to see if it actually "Talking nice" to the Flexraid target please ?

Hum... I guess there is something wrong as I get nothing else.

The first screenshot is the test.
After I click "done", I get back to the main screen as shown in the second screenshot (WClientTest2.GIF).

That means that you have created a file for the target server (Like you have to do in your Web UI)
Now you have to "File->Open" it
This will then reconnect to the data that you have tested, and start to perform the status actions (like the page I posted earlier)

No file was created.
File->Open shows an empty folder. Further, browsing around including in the install dir shows nothing.

Okay..
You need to save the test by going back to the File Menu and pressing Save or Save As
I could have made them buttons that became active, but then this goes against most edit programs like notepad etc.
I could make it ask the question if a valid test is achieved (The last test succeeded more like)..
I think I will do that anyway !

Okay, that worked.

I would definitely be more intuitive if you can that to:
- Add new [managed] host
- (then) Connect to host

I think the WebUI's design is great in that particular regard.
Feel free to copy it.

Let me know if you want the icons used in the WebUI.

It appears that this is an arse and changes every time I perform the test !!
Darn Package codes / User levels / MSI installer versions.. I'll leave this until a later version I think.

Previous version details
See first post for latest. "http://www.openegg.org/forums/posts/list/246.page"

V 1.0.5
- Mostly Installer changes and fixes :-
    - Add FlexRaid icon to Add/Remove area
    - Add link to the Agreement text
    - Add this history file
    - Add URL Link for the Forum
    - Add Launch app on exit option
- Remove splurdge across the status screen and replace with version number
- Modified and corrected an "AboutBox" from http://www.codeproject.com/KB/vb/aboutbox.aspx - Thanks go to the Author

Fixed:
# 5 Add Firewall exceptions for these apps to localNet only
# 6 Client Service is installed but not started.
# 7 Ask to save after the last successful test.

Known Issues
# 4 Detect and attempt silent upgrade
# 8 Done button positioning is a pain (Not consistent in different pages or different OS's !)
# 9 Add Changelog to be launchable from the GUI

A lot of code has been placed into the installer in an attempt to tackle the upgrade option routes But, it will not start to work until after 1.0.5 needs to be upgraded (Or should do but my head hurts from this stuff )

Nice!

It is becoming more intuitive.
I would remove the extra steps of testing, saving, and then loading.

Just do a:
- Add Host
- Connect to Host (previously added host)
- Remove Host (or a delete icon next each added host)

I wouldn't worry too much about the extras on the installer.
Asking users to explicitly uninstall the previous version is not too much of a hassle.

It is time to start to make it functional.

OK..
This is not dead...
A fortnight ago I did my back in (Not sure how- got up with it!)
Last weekend I rebuilt the Media-Vault (See http://www.openegg.org/forums/posts/downloadAttach/128.page)
This last week I have had some funny power outages that have killed a UPS, Taken out the ADSL line (Not the modem) and killed a sata card in the Media-Vault (Also the local pub was in darkness )

So back to the Gui Client..
I am have started working on it again. And want to get something out soon that will actually show something usefull (Might have to drop the service part for a while ! )

Then I see that 1.4 is starting to roll..
I'll have to pull my socks up and see what I can do to keep up

As always.. Comments welcome on whatever issues / features you would like to see in the coming versions..

I think you have to use the "Lite" version: http://www.openegg.org/forums/posts/list/276.page

Simple put No..
It does not load the
1) Cmd Line
2) Web GUI configs

But
1) It could on initial start
2) This is not going to happen as this is stored in an currently unknown format
3) It reloads whatever you last put into it.

#3 Expanded :-
As you create the DRU / PPU etc it saves this information away in a binary file (To be used later for the bigger version that will aloow multiple configurations per target FlexRaid installation).
There is a Config button to show you what the Cmd Line file would look like if it used it.

okay.. so if i understand correctly this is to use instead off the cmd and webui to create the raids, and it will not see the raid i have created in the webui ?

Correct, Until I can get the Import function working.
But as an aside a question for Brahim:
Does the Web UI see the raid that has been created by the CMD client (i.e. does it implement the import ?)

I think I PM'ed you the import command response format.
Yes, the WebUI can import a RAID created with the CMD client.
All it needs is the metadata file.
Not all configs get imported though.
Runtime properties don't get imported and have to be reconfigured after an import.
This is because it does not make sense to save parameters that can change between runs int the metadata.
