I am using Windows Server 2008.
Both the ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException and NumberFormatException bugs have been resolved for build 009.

@gorman,
I am surprised that retrying the task still fails.
It looks like you might need to restart the host application to clear out the bug.
This would be the solution until build 009 is out.

I'll try again, but I already restarted the host several times...
Edit: I confirm. Tried once more, with different folders to create parity for, nothing changed.

Ouch!
I guess the issue was more severe than I thought.
What OS are you using?
Very few users encounter this bug, and when they do, it is not often.
In all cases, you will have access to build 009 tonight.

Does it fail 100% of the time or do have instances where it works?

So far it's 100% of the times. I think I have tried at least 10-15 times, with different folders as data point and a whole 1.5TB empty hard drive as parity.

Do you have any sort of NTFS security on the parity drive?
I also assume the parity drive is properly formatted. Right?

Nope, no security.
It's a new drive, properly formatted, as far as I can tell. Just to be sure I copied some files in and out of it, with no problems.

I got exactly the same error on WHS PP2 with all updates installed during restore command. The files were actually restored.
2 clean 750 GB parity drives, 1.5, 1 TB and 500 GB data drives from WHS. chkdsk passed.

FlexRAID 1.1 final should be out tomorrow.
This issues should be fixed in that release.

I tested 1.1 Final yesterday and unfortunately it gives the same error. It does restore files, as well as version 1.0 did so this is probably minor.
I tested version 1.1 on small data set only - ~70 MB of parity. I attach the logs just in case. Full log for 1.1 and log for 1.0 with restore operation only - that's where 1.0 also gave this error.
Log:
=> The "restore" task has successufully initiated...
=> Process number: 2
=> ERROR: An Exception has occurred! - null

Thanks for the report.
I am looking into it.
I take it, you are deleting this file for testing purpose. Right?
Always make sure that the previous instance has been shutdown before trying to bring up a new one.
If you want to run multiple instances, you will need to specify different ports.
Of course, this is not critical.
Thanks.

Yes.

OK. I think this error also happened when previous instance was closed.

First post, so Hello, and kudos to Brahim, you're building the Raid solution I was looking for
Trying to use it for a couple of days to run on WHS for DVDs.
Currently testing a WHS config (I am running SBS2003, and I will be switching soon for Media Center integration).
I have 2 issues.
PB1
when starting Flexraid client (windows 7) after a default install, I get this:
log4j:ERROR setFile(null,true) call failed.
java.io.FileNotFoundException: log.log
at java.lang.Void.<unknown>(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Void.<unknown>(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Void.<unknown>(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Void.<unknown>(Unknown Source)
Connect to:
PB2
Command: run c:\cmd\restore.txt
=> The "restore" task has successufully initiated...
=> Process number: 7
Command: monitor
x0%
=> ERROR: An Exception has occurred! - ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException - null
Command:
Backup succeded!!!
FlexRaid 1.2 running as a service in Windows 7 (for the test).
create.txt
task=create
splitsize=5MB
data=DRU1{C:\FM}|DRU2{C:\FLEX}
parity=PPU1{c:\parity}
rsynch.txt
task=rsynch
splitsize=5MB
metadata=c:\parity\flxr.meta
restore.txt
task=restore
metadata=c:\parity\flxr.meta
restorepath=1
I have no idea how to have logs so far.
So let me know if I could help.
Once again thanks!

Hum... interesting...
For PB1:
Try creating a file named "log.log" in the install directory and let me know if you still see the error.
For PB2:
Can you post or PM me the host service log?
Starting with the next release, installing FlexRAID as a service will be fully supported and fully automated.
The next release will also have FlexRAID-View.

When you say the host service get the same error, is that for PB1?
If I understand correctly, PB1 is related to the client and PB2 to the host.
If you have PB1 with the host, try confirming that you don't have that problem when running it normally (not as a service).
After that, enable DEBUG mode logging and try running that task again.
Then, send me the full log.

This sounds like the same issue I had when running the FlexRAID 1.2 Host Service in Windows Vista without Admin privileges. After running the service with Admin privileges the error went away.
