Hello all... I have a problem...
I installed Disc Manager as service and I see it there.
Create config:
and put the file ViewConfig.txt into mine [path]/FlexRAID Basic Host Service 1.4 dir.
but when I opening "FlexRAID Basic CMD Client 1.0" and write down there "view start" - nothing happens.
what should I do?

First it asks you which server to connect to - are you typing in localhost first?

well... nope...
but now, it tells me "Invalid view configuration: the first line must specify a valid drive letter."
I tried with real drive I have, and with virtual drive (using drive letters that aren't reserved by system)...
------
fixed.
first line means FIRST literally...
------
well, I see that I'am limited with quantity of harddrive letters... I can't add in FlexView more than 26 letters.
Is it possible to add hard drives without letters?

1. The next release will have a much more flexible way of defining the configuration entries.
2. Yes, you can add drives mounted to folders to FlexRAID.
All of my drives are actually mounted to folders as I don't need the drive letters.

when it will be? approximately...

Amazing solution. Here is some screenshots.
When I mount drives in View - I can see space count correctly. (pic 1)
But when I mount same drives into NTFS folders - space doesn't counts (pic 2). It shows the free space as on the host drive...
Is it ok? I'm not sure its bag or something, but could be intresting...

1. The next build is planned for next week
2. What's your view configuration after the mount to folder approach?
3. How did you mount the drives to the folders? Through the Windows Disk Management interface (the proper way)?

I'm total lame at scripts, bur I think, my mount folders should be without " " spaces...?
Because, when I write unique as D:\Station\Vol 1F; D:\Station\Vol 2G - it says - "view handler initialization failure"
And when in "" like "D:\Station\Vol 1F"; "D:\Station\Vol 2G" - it says - "D:\Station\Vol 1F is not contained in any of the unique volumes"
3. How did you mount the drives to the folders? Through the Windows Disk Management interface (the proper way)?
correct...

You need to add all those paths into the unique line, e.g.:
|
Windows Server 2008 R2
Gigabyte P55-UD7, 8 Gb RAM, 3x AOC-SASLP-MV8 controllers, 15 Tb storage
FlexRAID 2.0 beta |

well, yeah... but this config:
I renamed path without spaces, and it shows me the same "view handler initialization failure". I think I'll wait next release, and coninue my little experiments with it.
More important feature is ability to create 2 flexview virtual drives, and ability to rename it from "FlexRAID-View" to anything I want...

Oh sorry I missed that. That's a problem with Flexraid view install. There should be some ideas how to tackle it above in the same thread.
I get it too if I try to stop / start the view in the same session - I always have to reboot the computer. Did you try rebooting?

That particular issue is fixed for the upcoming release.
You don't really have to reboot.
Just restarting the host service should do the trick.

Heh, I restarted Flex Disc Manager service
Anyway, after rebooting it shows everyting right, with spaces, without spaces - doesn't matter. Config, for protocol:

Hi there, thank you for the great piece of software.
I recently moved over from Windows home server to just a normal Windows 7 box with Flex Raid view installed.
I have gotten it working on my local drives and I am now attempting to add a folder shared on the network to the view.
On NOKOFF-PC I have the "Downloads" folder shared with everyone.
On Predator-pc I have the "D" folder shared with everyone.
On Server (The pc running flexraid-view) I am trying to add the "Downloads" share to the view.
This is my current ViewConfig:
I have set the "FlexRAID Host Service" to Log on as "Linden", which is an Administrator account AND the same user account I have on NOKOFF-PC with the same password AND I can access it from the server.
It should also be noted that the Size of the View increases as a result of this which leads me to believe it is partially working because it is detecting the size of my share and increasing the view size by it.
However I cannot see any of the network shares contents in either the "NOKOFF" or "PREDATOR" directories in the view. I open the virtual folder NOKOFF and am presented with an empty directory.
Here is the log file if it helps at all
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Nokoff

Hi There,
i recently installed FlexRAID on my HTPC. I have two Hard Discs with the folowing structure:
d:\Musik
d:\Videos
e:\Videos
Now I want to merge both Hard Discs to one Drive. My config looks like that:
But after starting the view it contains 2 Folders named Videos?! What do I have to do, to merge this two Hard Discs to one view?
Thankfully

you have two options of doing that, first would be, just merge the stuff in those videos folders in Z:
or create a folder named videos and merge your folders into it

So theres no chance to merge two Hard Drives recursively?

i think, what you are talking about is auto merge, which many WHS user need. its not supported by flexraid. In your case, you just have to merge those videos folders and everything should be right.
Or could you straighten things out by telling us, how you sorted the stuff in those folders?

No.
Pre-2011 reply: No, not ever, the world is gonna end before 25 December 2012 if FlexRAID does that.
1/1/2011 reply: No, possibly just not yet, at least as a secondary optional mode, maybe hidden somewhere deep, esp. if more people say they want that (HELLO?).

Not always possible as I have explained numerous times WITH examples.
Yes you can make things cleaner, but that doesn't mean you will be able to negate the need to merge at least some folders, altogether.
